Hope in Design: How ‘We Will Meet Again’ Epoxy Rainbow Art Captures a Moment in British History
Some pieces of art are created to decorate a space. Others also carry a story.
Our piece ‘We Will Meet Again’ was created during a time when people across the UK, and the world, were facing uncertainty, isolation and loss. At Gaias Work, we wanted to capture something poignant: a moment that many people shared, and won’t forget.
This epoxy rainbow artwork is rooted in a specific point in British history, but its meaning has continued to evolve. Today, it stands as a reminder of resilience, connection and hope.

The Queen’s Speech and Vera Lynn’s 1939 Song
On 12 April 2020, Queen Elizabeth II delivered a deeply personal address to the nation. At a time when people were separated from loved ones, her words carried weight. The message was simple but powerful: we would meet again. These famous lyrics from Vera Lynn’s song of the same name from the Second World War have long been associated with hope and yearning. That phrase quickly became more than just reassurance: it became a symbol of collective strength.
Elizabeth II had a deep affection for Dame Vera Lynn, who was known as the Forces’ Sweetheart during the war. To make their relationship even more poignant, Lynn passed away in 2020 during the pandemic, not long before the Queen herself two years later. The Queen made use of her famous lyrics in her speech only a month after the singer’s death in March 2020.
At Gaias Work, we found ourselves reflecting on that message. Like many others, we were looking for ways to process what was happening and to hold onto something positive. That’s where the idea for this piece began.
Children’s Rainbows and a Symbol of Unity
Across the UK, children began drawing rainbows and placing them in windows. Although a small act, it spread quickly, filling what felt like increasingly grey, empty streets with colour. A quiet signal that even in isolation, people were still connected.
Those rainbows became part of the language of hope.
We took inspiration from that movement. Not to replicate it, but to preserve its meaning in a more permanent form. The goal was to create a piece of handmade epoxy artwork that reflected that same sense of optimism and togetherness.
Transforming Emotion Into Epoxy Art
At Gaias Work, everything we create is shaped by both craftsmanship and intention.
Epoxy resin allows us to work with colour in a way that feels alive. The depth, the way light catches the surface: it gives the artwork a sense of presence that flat prints simply can’t achieve.
With ‘We Will Meet Again’, the rainbow isn’t just painted on, it’s built in layers. Each colour is carefully set within the resin, creating a smooth, glass-like finish that captures the light differently throughout the day.
No two pieces are identical. That’s part of what makes handmade resin art so compelling. Each one carries slight variations, making it truly unique to the person who owns it.
What the Rainbow Symbolises Today
Rainbows have long symbolised hope, renewal, and possibility. During the pandemic, that meaning became more immediate and personal. Now, the symbolism continues to resonate in different ways.
For some, it’s a reminder of strength during difficult times.
For others, it represents connection with loved ones.
And for many, it simply brings a sense of colour and positivity into their space.
That’s the power of meaningful wall art. It goes beyond decoration and becomes part of how a home feels.
How to Style Epoxy Rainbow Art in Your Home
Because of its bold colour and clean finish, this type of epoxy resin wall art works well in a range of interiors.
In living rooms, it can act as a focal point.
In hallways, it adds brightness and movement.
In home offices, it introduces a sense of calm and optimism.
The reflective surface also helps to bounce light around the room, making the space feel more open.
Pairing it with neutral tones allows the colours to stand out. Alternatively, it can complement other colourful elements if you’re creating a more vibrant interior.
